It's not a surprise that I, like many people, love coffee. I don't know where I would be without a cup of coffee every morning. You could say that it has become an addiction, but I think of it more as a necessity. It brings energy to my day every morning and on nights when I don’t sleep well I go for that second cup to reenergize. I actually read an article the other day that women should drink two cups of coffee a day to help prevents strokes. I’m sure there are so many more benefits to drinking coffee on a regular basis. Not only does it taste like heaven, but it brings people together. How many times have you asked a friend, “Wanna grab a cup of coffee and catch up?” It happens all the time. Thank you for being part of my day coffee.

Flickr Friday: the decision

Yesterday I discussed how music can turn a bad day around or inspire you to turn something negative into something positive. I was browsing Flickr and came across this photo. Now, records aren’t exactly the desired form in which we listen to our music nowadays, but this photo represents (to me) how promising a new record/album/song can be. I know I’m almost too young to remember the days of actual music stores and CD’s/records/cassettes, but there was always a thrill about walking into a store, not knowing what you will find and falling in love with a new artist or song.

Records remind me of having an all-around good time. Some of my favorite family moments are when we listen to old records with playing cards together. There is something about records that bring people together.

There are several things that attract me to this photo. It has texture, atmosphere and sex appeal. There are so many tiny details that grab the eye. The smudged makeup under the eyes, slightly opened lips, steam and drops of water on the glass. Every girl sees herself in the shower just like this. You’ve had a long day; you step in the shower, and don’t bother to take your makeup off. It makes you feel sexy and seductive while you are relaxed and taking your shower in one breath at a time.

I love how Flikr has so much to discover.

There are several reasons why I love this photo. First, the lighting, second the motion and finally the softness of color. Do you see what I see? It's breathtaking.

Flickr Friday: Down the Tracks

It’s the time of the week for Flickr Friday! This week I chose a photo by Andertho and it’s breathtaking.

One of the things that make a photo worth staring at is symmetry and depth, this photo has both. You are given the illusion that the tracks go straight for miles on end. They lead down the center of the photo and force your eyes to follow the lines. The image is so still and peaceful, and then your eyes run into the movement of the birds. Is there a train coming ahead? One from behind? Why is this person standing on the train tracks? So many questions are left unanswered and that’s what makes it breathtaking.

Lola Rain, The Artist

Oh Lola Rain! How I love thee! I don’t really know where to start because I feel like I have so much to say! I met Lola Rain about two years ago. We were both working in the same office (I’m still working there) and we could sense the need for a creative outlet from one another. We bonded over photography and began to model for one another. We would take day trips to Maine County and just photograph all day long. I wouldn’t be the same photographer without her. She really pushed me to get started and inspired me to start my own blog/business (I’m still working on the business part). Lola Moved 3,000 miles away from me but we still collaborate and inspire each other. The good thing about Lola moving away? Well, home girl has got it together!
